Abstract:
Dr Vincent Aranzana-Climent is a teaching and research assistant at the University of Poitiers where he is part of the pharmacology of antimicrobial agents and resistance INSERM research team led by Pr Sandrine Marchand. He undertook his doctoral studies in Poitiers, where he studied pharmacockinetic/pharmacodynamic evaluation and modelling of antimicrobial combinations. During his studies he had the chance to be an intern in Leiden (Netherlands) and Uppsala (Sweden) where he was a post-doctorate for 2 years, in the Pharmacometrics group before going back to Poitiers in November 2021.
His research focuses on expanding our understanding of antimicrobial therapy through pharmacometric modelling. He studies both the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects of therapy with a particular interest in developing methods to combine data from multiple different experiments to enable preclinical to clinical transaltion.
Vincent currently serves as an editor in Training for the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA).
Dr. Elisabet Nielsen, Uppsala University, Sweden
Elisabet Nielsen is a Professor in Clinical Pharmacy at the Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University, Sweden. Elisabet conducts research in the area of translational and personalized medicine, where mathematical modelling is used as a tool to understand the relationship between drug dosing, drug concentration (pharmacokinetics) and drug effects (pharmacodynamics). Her research aims to develop and evaluate methods for personalized treatments, where clinically integrated model-based systems may support individualizations based on patient specific factors. She has a specific interest in antibiotic research, and how to advance the understanding of the dynamic interplay between bug, drug and patient, and its implication for optimized antibiotic use. Elisabet is the assistant head of department, responsible for the research training, and she is currently supervising 10 PhD students; 3 as main supervisor.
